FAQs

  • Let’s be real—taking a series of brain tests might sound intimidating. But it’s not a pass-or-fail situation, think of it as a series of activities for your brain that help us understand your unique strengths and challenges. In fact, most people report that they enjoy the process!

During testing, you’ll complete tasks that assess different cognitive functions—things like memory, attention, language, and problem-solving skills. Some parts will feel easy, others might be tricky, and that’s completely normal. The goal is to get the full picture so we can provide personalized recommendations to help you thrive at school, work, and in everyday life.

  • While no official preparation is needed, there are some way to get the most out of testing. Here’s how to set yourself up for success:

    • Rest up – A good night’s sleep can make a big difference. Try to get plenty of rest before your appointment.

    • Fuel your brain – Try to eat a solid meal before your test, so hunger doesn’t interfere with your focus. Bringing snacks and drinks is also welcome.

    • Stick to your routine – Take any regular medications as usual unless your provider tells you otherwise.

Most importantly, go easy on yourself. Testing can take a few hours, and it’s normal to feel tired afterward. Plan for a low-key day, and if your child is being tested, they may need some downtime, or something fun, afterward too.

  • Glasses, hearing aids, or any other assistive devices you use daily. If you have past neuropsychological or educational evaluations, bring them along. They provide valuable context.

  • With the exception of educational proficiency testing, neuropsychological tests are usually covered by insurance. If you don’t have insurance, the cost of the evaluation is $3,500.

Educational testing is $1,000 and you can add academic recommendations to your results report for $500.

  • Depending on the tests we’re doing and the patient’s age and testing style, testing lasts at least two hours, oftentimes more. Breaks are always provided. If needed, we’ll spread the tests out over multiple days.
