Treatment for concussion & mild traumatic brain injury

Five teenage boys play football on a field. One boy in a white uniform is catching the football, while the other four, wearing maroon jerseys and helmets, surround him. All players are wearing helmets.

What is a concussion?

A concussion is a traumatic brain injury that results in a temporary disturbance of brain function. This can cause symptoms such as headache, dizziness, nausea, confusion and memory problems. Concussions are a serious medical concern and require proper diagnosis and treatment from a qualified health care provider, which includes a neuropsychologist, to prevent future complications.

Concussion are not a “one size fits all” treatment and it certainly does not include excessive rest or sitting in a dark room. Current research has repeatedly shown that concussion is treatable with an active, individualized plan that includes a safe return to school, sports, and the activities you love as quickly and safely as possible. At BrainWise, we can tailor your treatment to best target your symptoms and meet your unique needs and recovery goals for school, sports, and life.
